HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET Series
This unflinching look at a group of Baltimore detectives locked in a never-ending battle with murderers and their own consciences is, with the possible exception of riding shotgun with real cops, as genuine as it gets. The terrific cast of characters includes Richard Belzer's Detective John Munch, who proved so popular, he rewrote the record books for the number of times a TV character made cross-over appearances on other shows (seven so far), including "The X-Files," "Law & Order," "Arrested Development" and "The Beat." A Muppet version of Munch even appeared on "Sesame Street." But if you're a real Munch fan, this is the best place to catch him.
KEEN EDDIE Series
A New York detective (Mark Valley) says goodbye Big Apple, hello Big Ben after a drug bust-gone-bad gets him transferred to London, where he's partnered with a sex-addict police inspector and a testy female flatmate. This rapid-fire cop show is peppered with quirky Brits, salty subject matter and chop-chop visual style, but mostly, it's just plain hilarious. "Eddie" addicts take note: unlike the DVD release, which replaced some of the music tracks with heaven-knows-what, Sleuth is airing the series with its original get-down, get-funky scores. With Sienna Miller.

MAGNUM, P.I. Series
Manly moustache, sockless sneakers, snug shorts-Thomas Magnum (Tom Selleck) is his own fashion island. A Vietnam vet and former Navy man, Magnum is the head of security at the lavish Hawaiian estate of reclusive author Robin Masters. This allows Magnum to live out the dream of jealous viewers: freeloading in Masters' roaring Ferrari and having access to a beach teeming with scantily-clad hotties. Do we hold a grudge? No. We just take notes and learn from the master.

MIAMI VICE Series
Michael Mann's wildly stylistic "pastel noir" created two of television's most iconic undercover cops: James "Sonny" Crockett and Ricardo "Rico" Tubbs. With their beautiful bods decked out in t-shirts, Armani jackets and designer stubble, Crocket and Tubbs sent a message to drug lords everywhere: we're not just vice cops, we're the fashion police. With Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas.
NEW YORK UNDERCOVER Series
Hip-hop cops (Malik Yoba and Michael DeLorenzo) go gunning for gangstas in Dick Wolf's maverick, Motown variation of "Law and Order." And yo, check out the recording artists who give these cops their beat: Notorious B.I.G., 112, Boyz II Men, Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu, Xscape, Celia Cruz, the Temptations, Teddy Pendergrass and Gladys Knight.

PLAYERS Series
If you've had a long day at the office, plop yourself on the sofa and inhale this one hundred percent pure, unadulterated couch potato crack. Created by, among others, Dick Wolf, Ice-T and Shaun Cassidy (honest), the show follows the adventures of three ex-cons who pull off "Sting"-like missions for the Feds in exchange for early parole. But if they fail, it's back to jail. Unavailable on DVD, so if you're curious, catch it while you can. With Ice-T, Costas Mandylor and Frank John Hughes.
PROFILER Series
FBI profiler Sam Waters (Ally Walker) solves cases by projecting herself into the minds of criminals and their victims. Her talents attract the attention of a wily psychopath known as Jack of All Trades, but surprisingly, never raises the ire of the ACLU. This twisty labyrinth of cat-and-mouse plotting and peek-through-your-fingers suspense will take your breath away.
ROBBERY HOMICIDE DIVISION Series
Bad boys, bad boys, watcha gonna do? Here's what these cops are gonna do: throw them in jail. Co-created by Michael Mann, the gritty "RHD" plays like a spin-off of Mann's "Heat," centering around a dynamo detective (Tom Sizemore, who costarred in "Heat" and knows a thing-or-two about run-ins with the law) targeting L.A.'s worst-of-the-worst. With David Cubitt.
SIMON & SIMON Series
Gerald McRaney and Jameson Parker make like Oscar and Felix as a pair of mismatched siblings trying to run a detective agency without driving each other crazy. Rick's the kind of guy who'll chow down a fistful of nachos; A.J. will pick at a salad nicoise. And instead of Murray the cop, there's fan favorite Downtown Brown (Tim Reid), who spends as much time bailing the brothers out of trouble as he does deciphering their latest harebrained scheme. Great nostalgia for fans of breezy '80's TV.
